ALPS signs new Breakdown deal with Collinson Group

Collinson Group has won a deal with Auto Legal Protection Services (ALPS) to service a significant number of its existing road rescue schemes from 1st September.

As a result, ALPS will be providing its 700 brokers with an even more comprehensive motor breakdown proposition to include a number of market leading product enhancements such as up to £1,500 indemnity for engine damage incurred as a result of mis-fuelling and cover up to £50 for lost or stolen keys. Rates will be maintained at the current ALPS pricing and all existing cover options will still be available. This will enable brokers to continue to differentiate their motor breakdown offering in the market.

ALPS will continue a relationship with AXA Assistance to service Tradex, Clegg Gifford and Classicline through their existing roadside assistance proposition.

Collinson Group has 40 years’ experience in the UK road rescue market and will be providing underwriting, an enhanced product solution and claims and assistance service delivery whilst ALPS will be acting as a distributor to the broker market. ALPS has put in place a comprehensive implementation plan, backed by dedicated teams on both sides and conducted a communications programme to explain the benefits to its brokers.

Lee Riley, Managing Director, ALPS said: “We currently achieve 15 per cent annual growth in our breakdown book and we hope that this move will boost that to 20 per cent. We were impressed by Collinson Group’s likeminded approach to product innovation and their experience in this market. Our brokers will benefit from the same efficient product delivery and rates whilst their clients will benefit from enhanced cover.”

Lawrence Watts, Head of Motor & Home Insurance & Assistance at Collinson Group, comments: “This is a significant roadside assistance contract with a partner who matches our broader group’s growth ambition and who is like-minded in their approach to product development and increasing customer engagement.

“We have committed significant resources to delivering the high level of service that ALPS, its broker clients and their end customers expect. We will ensure that the transition from the existing suppliers is seamless for the end customer. Offering breakdown cover alongside motor policies can help brokers significantly with renewal retention.

“We have in-depth experience in this market and we offer many benefits including a nationwide network of recovery operators with rapid average recovery times and a high roadside fix rate.”
