ALPS appoints HR Manager

Auto Legal Protection Services (ALPS), one of the UK’s leading providers of motor claims solutions, legal expenses and additional products, has appointed Barbara Glimmerveen as its new Human Resources Manager.

Barbara has more than 10 years’ experience in various HR management roles in the rail industry, both here in the UK for Virgin Trains, and more recently in Australia where she spent six years working for Metro Trains in Melbourne.  Just prior to joining ALPS Barbara was Diversity and Inclusion Manager for Metro Trains.  She has been responsible for the successful delivery of several high-profile HR initiatives as well as managing day-to-day recruitment, organisational development and training strategies.

The appointment comes at the end of a year of significant growth for the company, with a 25% increase in headcount in the last 6 months alone and a 20% expected growth in turnover for the year.  Growth has come from an increase in schemes and additional products, as well as greater volumes of its outsourced FNOL motor claims solutions.  In the past six months alone ALPS has won outsourced FNOL contracts from Thomas Carroll, The Mansfield Group and additional services for Clegg Gifford, amongst others.

Lee Riley, Managing Director of ALPS, comments: “We’re delighted to welcome Barbara.  Her appointment is highly significant as we look to take ALPS to the next level.  We’ve had a very successful year and remain committed to maintaining and developing our recruitment and award winning training initiatives to keep pace with our growth now and in the future.  Barbara’s appointment reinforces that commitment.  We are now of a size that warrants an experienced, dedicated HR resource, to manage the engagement, welfare and future development of our staff.”

ALPS now employs a total of 92 staff and staff training is high on the company’s agenda.  In 2016 it won the Modern Claims Award for Outstanding Commitment to Training.

Barbara comments: “I’m thrilled to be joining ALPS at such an exciting time in its evolution.  The company has always put its people at the heart of its organisation, and with strong growth plans for the coming years it will be vital that it employs the right HR strategies to recruit, nurture and develop the talent that will underpin the company as it grows.   We already have some exciting plans for an ALPS training academy which we hope to announce in the New Year.”
