Keycare sponsoring sporting category at Yorkshire Women of Achievement Awards

Shipley firm, Keycare, the UK’s leading expert in the recovery of lost and stolen keys, is once again sponsoring the sporting category in the Sue Ryder Yorkshire Women of Achievement Awards, which celebrates its 30th year this year. The awards ceremony will take place on 20th May at New Dock Hall in Leeds where over 700 people are expected to attend.

Keycare is a second-generation family business based in Shipley, employing over 46 staff. Since 2014 it has sponsored the Yorkshire Women of Achievement, in the last two years the Sport category. Last year’s winner was Sarah Speers, Development Coach for synchronised swimming with Leeds City School.

The Yorkshire Women of Achievement Awards raise vital and much needed funds for the Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospice in Leeds, which provides specialist end-of- life-care as well as offering emotional and psychological support to people and their families during extremely difficult times.

Keycare’s sponsorship forms part of a wider commitment to charitable support by Keycare which prides itself on helping good causes, both big and small. In just the last 12 months Keycare has also:

  • Given over £12,000 to charities via its key fob reward scheme. All finders of lost car or home keys with a Keycare fob attached can claim a £10 reward, but if they choose not to claim they can donate their reward to charities chosen by Keycare staff members. Charities that have benefitted have included: Dorothy House Hospice Care, Cats Protection and Target Ovarian Cancer. Over the last eight years alone, the scheme has raised over £35,000 for charities.
  • Sponsored Yorkshire Rows, the group of four working mothers who set out to row 3,000 nautical miles across the Atlantic Ocean in December 2015, raising money for MAGGIES and Yorkshire Air Ambulance in the process.
  • Planted 70 trees in Longridge Wood, close to Buckden for the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust, creating natural woodlands for future generations.
  • Supported Suffolk police by administering the Suffolk SAFEKey recovery service. This enables lost keys in the Suffolk area to be returned to their owners via a special key fob. Keycare provides the key fobs, welcome packs and a 24/7 helpline. A portion of each registration fee for the scheme is donated to local charities

Rachel Taylor, Director and daughter of Keycare’s founder Geoffrey Parker, comments: “As a family-owned business with proud Yorkshire roots, we are delighted to be sponsoring the sporting category for the Yorkshire Women of Achievement awards for the third year. It is truly humbling to be involved in celebrating the achievements of these amazing women. We are also delighted to be helping raise funds for the Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospice which does such valuable work for people needing end-of-life care and their families.”

Georgina Abbott, Regional Fundraiser at Sue Ryder Hospice Care, adds: “The support of our sponsors is invaluable and we are so pleased that Keycare is continuing its sponsorship of the sporting category this year. These awards are our way of recognising and celebrating the achievements of the wonderful women of our region as well as raising much-needed funds for our hospice and the incredible care it offers people living with life-limiting conditions.”
