From BIBA to BIBA for charity! 208 gruelling miles and £2,163 raised so far!

BIBA’s Area Manager North, Neil Jenkinson and a team of five hardy individuals from Jackson Lee Underwriting (JLU) have cycled 208 miles from the offices of the British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) in London, to Manchester in time today for the 2017 BIBA conference and exhibition.  The team has successfully raised £2163.00 so far for charity.

They cycled to raise vital and much needed funds and awareness for the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals. Combined, the hospitals form the UK’s only specialist heart and lung centre that treats both adults and children, but this is being threatened by the proposed closure of services.

In a real test of stamina and dedication, the cycle ride took two days over the 7th and 8th of May 2017 and covered a total of 208 miles which involved crossing some difficult terrain and challenges along the way, including a section of the Peak District!

The six-strong team included Mark Mclaren and Nick Mohan, joint Managing Directors of JLU and Neil Jenkinson, the BIBA Area Manager (North).

Mark Mclaren, Joint Managing Director of Jackson Lee Underwriting, said: “We made it; sore but victorious! The whole team did an incredible job and should be very proud.  We were delighted to have Neil from BIBA join us to help raise awareness for this worthy cause too. The Royal Brompton & Harefeld Hospitals Charity remains close to my heart as a friend’s family had two generations of children saved by these hospitals. They work tirelessly in their fight against the world’s two biggest killers, heart and lung disease.

“The team has worked so hard to achieve this cycle distance preparing physically and mentally for the challenge – but we were all driven by knowing we are helping people and their families by raising money to keep these hospitals’ services running and appreciate the amazing work they do.”

Jackson Lee Underwriting, is the BIBA accredited and exclusive scheme provider for both GAP and Leisure insurance.
